In order to fulfill the possible interest and curiosity of students in elementary school and middle school in Chinese medicine, US Center for Chinese Medicine is planning to hold a summer camp in 2017. Students in elementary and middle school will receive different teachings. The theoretical teaching that is given to students in elementary school will be emphasized on interesting and meaningful stories related to Chinese Medicine Classics. The theoretical teaching that is given to students in middle school will be emphasized on the introduction of Chinese medicine theories and diagnostic methods. Both students in elementary and middle school will have the opportunity to visit the museum of Chinese medicine, which includes subjects as follows:
Participation in differentiation of Chinese materia medica, processing of materia medica and production of Chinese medicinal pills.
Introduction of clinical used needles, materials and therapy of moxibustion, cupping, scraping, and acupoint application therapy by situational approach.
Education of fitness training includes Tai Chi and Baduanjin.
Introduction on the balanced diet to preserve health and its impacts on human.
How to make a Chinese knot?
Experience in paper-cut art.
Calligraphy.
Chinese martial art.
Teaching Team: We have invited some of the best professors, clinical experts and specialists from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine who will teach in this summer camp.
Purpose: This summer camp will provide individual customization, stratified and bilingual (Chinese and English) teaching based on the actual situation of students. Such teaching method reflects the combination of Chinese Medicine and traditional culture, the theory and situational experience as well as the dynamic and the static. The course involves Chinese Medicine theory, situational viewing in the museum, Chinese materia medica processing, Chinese knot making and paper-cut, as well as the guidance of calligraphy, Tai Chi, Baduanjin and martial arts. When teaching through lively activities, namely, through the theoretical study and various experiences in the museum, the students in elementary and middle school who have known the modern medicine can prevent diseases understand that Chinese Medicine also plays an important role in clinic. So that students' cognition of traditional Chinese culture at different ages can be raised in this way.
Features: This summer camp combines theoretical teaching, situational experience, sports fitness and diet guidance, which is full of knowledge and fun. Not only can students in the elementary and secondary school develop health care knowledge, but they can easily connect to courses in the next semester. This is a summer camp where the students are not under pressure, only laughter.

Class Grouping: The students will be divided into primary school class (7 years old to 12 years old) and middle school class (13 years old to 18 years old).

August 14 - 25, 2017, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.
